We are pleased to participate in the first contact lens recycling program. TerraCycle and Bausch + Lomb have partnered to create a free recycling program for contact lenses and blister packs. We will be collecting all contact lens foils, blister packs, and even contact lenses themselves.

Although CL blisters can be recycled, often they are not done so properly and are then discarded in the process of recycling and are ultimately being put in a landfill instead which can be a lot of waste. Bausch and Lomb sponsors this program. Patients can participate by saving and bringing their CL blister packs/foils/contacts to be recycled through this program. There is a collection box located in our Wyomissing office.

HOW IT WORKS

Program accepted waste: contact lenses, blister packs, foils

Please note: The contact lens cardboard boxes are recyclable through regular municipal recycling. Please do not include them in this program.

What happens to the waste?

Once received, the contact lenses and blister packs are separated by composition and cleaned. The metal layers of the blister packs are recycled separately, while the contact lenses and plastic blister pack components are melted into plastic that can be remolded to make recycled products.

REWARDS
As thanks for your dedication to Eliminating the Idea of Waste, a $1 donation will be made to Optometry Giving Sight for every pound of accepted contact lens packaging sent through this program.
