Myopia Management For Children

Dr Kerry Burrell eye doctor Reading PA

Nearsightedness, or myopia, is an ever increasing eye problem in children. Higher myopia later in life comes with significantly higher risks of glaucoma and retinal problems. It is estimated that the incidence of myopia has increased from around 25% to close to 50% in young children in the past four decades.

Age appropriate children may benefit from CooperVision’s innovative technology, developed to help slow down the progression of myopia. MiSight® one day contact lenses are soft, daily disposable contact lens designed to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children. These simple, easy to manage lenses have been shown to slow the progression of myopia in children by around 60%, which could decrease the chance of eye problems later in life.
