We wish to extend our congratulations and express our thanks to the National Eye Institute (NEI) as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. The NEI was established in 1968, since that time they greatly influenced the progress in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and vision impairment.

The NEI is a part of the federal government’s National Institutes of Health (NIH), The NEI’s mission is to “conduct and support research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to blinding eye diseases, visual disorders, mechanisms of visual function, preservation of sight, and the special health problems and requirements of the blind.”

They serve as a wealth of information for patients and providers.

To commemorate their 50th anniversary, the NEI has created an educational video series. Here are the first two videos:

“NEI, Leading the Fight Against Blindness”

and “The Windows to Your Health”

Two additional videos will follow later this year.

Thank you and congratulations NEI.
