A native of Berks County, Dr. Heaney has been an integral part of our professional team since 2009. She earned a B.S. in General Science with a minor in Biology from Alvernia College and a B.S. in Visual Science and an O.D. degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia. She serves as a member of the Allied Health Medical Staff at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center (inpatient consults and Emergency Department eye care).

Dr. Heaney enjoys primary eye care with special interest in glaucoma and ocular disease management (infection, allergy, inflammation, dry eye). She is a member of the Alumni Association Board of Salus University in Philadelphia and is an active member of the Berks County Optometric Society. In 2015, Dr. Heaney was recognized by her peers by being awarded the Berks County “Young Optometrist of the Year”.

Dr. Heaney serves our community as a member of the Shillington Lions Club, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the La Salle Academy Catholic Youth Organization Board. She is a VisionUSA doctor who provides free eye care to the working poor who are screened and referred by the Salvation Army. She participates in the national InfantSEE program, sponsored by the American Optometric Association, offering free vision and eye health screenings to 6-12 month old infants. Dr. Heaney lectures to lay and professional groups on a variety of eye health topics including diabetic eye disease, ocular injury and children’s vision.
